OCFD Northside Park Heliport

OCEAN CITY, MD - The Ocean City Fire Department (OCFD) has completed an important next-step in establishing their Northside Park Heliport to allow for an expansion of emergency aerial response abilities.

Firefighters say the Maryland State Police Aviation Command successfully conducted flight assessments at the heliport, a crucial part of the FAA approval process before the Heliport becomes operational.

The assessments, known as flight validation, demonstrate MSP can safely land in low-visibility conditions during emergencies and brings Ocean City one step closer to activating the Northside Park Heliport, the first of its kind for a Maryland fire company/EMS jurisdiction.

OCFD says once the Heliport has passed all FAA requirements, training will begin for providers and mutual aid partners, boosting emergency services in various conditions.
