EDEN, MD - The Maryland State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed one person in Somerset County on Wednesday.

The Maryland State Police say on Wednesday, May 7th, just before 5:30pm, troopers from the MSP Princess Anne Barrack responded to the area of Ocean Highway (U.S. Route 13) at Flower Hill Church Road for a report of a two-vehicle crash.

MSP says a preliminary investigation revealed that a Kia Soul attempted to cross southbound Ocean Highway when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle was struck by a Jeep.

The driver of the Kia, a 72-year-old woman, died at the scene. One of the passengers in that vehicle was flown to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment of their injuries. Another passenger in the Kia was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

MSP says the driver of the Jeep was also taken by ambulance to a local hospital for the treatment of their injuries.

As of 7:15pm, Maryland State Police say all southbound lanes are currently closed. The crash is still under investigation.
