EASTON, Md. - Maryland State Police said one person died and a second person was injured in a car crash that happened on Route 50 in Talbot County Wednesday morning.
According to state police, a van traveling west on Route 50 near Plugge Road drifted off the road into a drainage ditch and culvert before it overturned.
The passenger in the car, 68-year-old Carolina Purnell of Port Tobacco, died at the scene. The driver, Sylvester Purnell 3rd of Port Tobacco, was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore for treatment.
MSP said its crash team is currently reconstructing and investigating the crash. After its investigation, state police said the case will be turned over to the Talbot County's State's Attorney's Office.
