Arthur "Bruce" Wharton of Salisbury, Maryland passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at Tidal Health Peninsula General Hospital.
Bruce was born on June 26, 1939 in Selbyville, Delaware to Casper and Elva Wharton. As a young child, he and the family moved to Salisbury where Bruce attended East Salisbury Elementary School, and later graduated from Wicomico Senior High School in 1958.
Bruce attended Salisbury State Teachers College and graduated from Capitol Radio Engineering Institute in Washington, DC. While in the Washington area he was employed as a radio technician at WEAM (Arlington Radio).
When he moved back to Salisbury he became a radio/television engineer for WBOC. His career expanded to helping to design WSBY-WQHQ in the City Center in downtown Salisbury.
Later he designed a new radio station for the University of Maryland on the Princess Anne campus, and then became an engineer for Maryland Public Television in Salisbury.
Bruce was predeceased by his parents, and survived by his wife Sandra, and two sons Brian (Kate) and Andy, as well as a brother - David (Barbara) and sister, Linda.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at Tidal Health and Encompass Rehabilitation in Salisbury for the exceptional care he received.
A graveside service is planned for Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury, Maryland.
