Elizabeth Louise "Lou" Pritchard Marshall of Salisbury passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on July 17th. Lou was born and raised in the Stoneleigh community near Towson University and enjoyed a happy childhood. Lou graduated in May 1958 from Salisbury Teachers College (Salisbury University) and in June of that year she married Richard "Dick" Marshall. She and Dick raised three children on the family farm on Pemberton Drive. She made a home that valued faith, hard-work, and the importance of family. Her love and joy she passed on to her children. She was adored as "Gammy" by her seven grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Dick; her siblings, Douglas Pritchard and his wife, Florence; and her sister Susan Sinkhorn, her sisters-in-law Janice Marshall Fadeley and Patricia Marshall Coleman. She is also survived by her children, Laura Marshall Vernon, Michael (Germaine) Marshall, and John (Shelly) Marshall. She leaves behind her grandchildren to cherish her memory: Kristen (C.J.) Spicer, Marshall Vernon, Rachel (Zack) Ward, Andrew (Marcella) Marshall, Matthew (Katelyn) Marshall, Foster Vernon, Jack Vernon, as well as Bill Vernon and Amber Vernon Ball and their families. Lou is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother Grace Foster Pritchard, father Jack Pritchard, sister-in-law Ruth Marshall Feldmeier, brothers-in-law William Coleman, Walter Fadeley, Gary Feldmeier, Jack Sinkhorn, son-in-law Jeff Vernon, niece Nancy Fadeley McLaren and nephew Douglas Pritchard.
Lou spent her life helping others. She was proud of her husband and assisted as he grew his business. She loved hosting bridge games, book clubs, and Bible studies. Lou volunteered at Asbury United Methodist Church, Peninsula General Hospital, and was a docent at Pemberton Hall Manor.
Lou made friends easily with her kind smile, contagious positivity and joyful attitude. Her faith brought out her generosity, and she always put others first. As her family has always said, "Everybody loves Lou". Even during winters spent in Vero Beach, FL, she helped others by donating her time and resources.
The Marshall family is very grateful for the many visits, prayers and concerns Lou received during her illness. We are especially grateful for the abundance of tender care and concern Lou received while at the John B. Parsons Home in Salisbury during the last month of her life.
Lou's Celebration of Life will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1401 Camden Avenue, Salisbury, MD 21801 on Friday, July 24, 2026 The service will begin at 11:00AM with visitation from 10:00-11:00AM
