Linda Lea Austin

Linda Lea (Barnes) Austin, 80, of Salisbury, Maryland was called home by Jesus on Sunday, October 4, 2026.

She was born on February 16, 1946 in Stuart, Virginia, to Leslie Lee Barnes and Annie Myrtle (Murphy) Barnes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of more than thirty-five years, Homer Austin.

She is survived by her beloved children, Hollie Austin and Jathan Austin; her brothers, Cecil Barnes, Larry Barnes, and Joe Barnes. Linda wanted to do three things in her life: serve Jesus, teach schoolchildren, and have children of her own. She was always actively involved in a church, taught children's Sunday school for many years, and prayed earnestly for her family and friends every day. She received a master's degree in education from the University of Virginia, and taught in public elementary schools for well over a decade. For twenty-two years, she was a devoted and diligent stay-at-home wife and mother.

In her free time Linda enjoyed reading the Bible, going to the beach with her daughter, watching the wildlife in her backyard, and playing the piano. She was a soprano, and throughout her life she sang solos in numerous churches. She is now singing with the angels in the heavenly choir.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 14, at 1:00 p.m. at Canvas/Faith Community Church 219 N. Division St. Salisbury, Maryland, 21804. Friends are welcomed to gather one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, Linda requested that donations be made to Coastal Hospice at the Lake, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802, https://coastalhospice.org/donate/ or to Gideons International, https://gideons.org/donate .
