Mary "Joyce" Culver Townsend, daughter of the late Clyde Culver and the late Ruth Brown Culver, was born April 10, 1936, in Salisbury, MD. She graduated from Snow Hill High School in 1954 and attended Salisbury State Teachers College (SU) graduating in 1960. She continued her education and earned a Master's degree at Salisbury.
