Bulltick and ITAM Announce Strategic Alliance to Advance Education in Alternative Investments and Private Markets in Mexico

Mexico City, Mexico - October 15, 2026 - The Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), one of Mexico’s most prestigious academic institutions and a leading institution in the education of professionals in economics and finance, through its Office of University Extension and Executive Development, has announced a strategic alliance with Bulltick, an international financial firm with more than 25 years of experience, to launch the Diploma Program in Alternative Investments and Private Markets.

The program will begin on October 27, 2026, and conclude on April 10, 2027, comprising 120 academic hours across six modules.

The initiative comes at a time when alternative investments, including private equity, venture capital, private debt, infrastructure, real estate, and hedge funds, are playing an increasingly important role in institutional and private wealth portfolios. Global capital markets have undergone an unprecedented structural transformation over the past three decades. According to the World Federation of Exchanges (2023), the number of companies listed on the NYSE and NASDAQ fell from approximately 8,090 in 1996 to around 4,300 in 2023, representing a 47% contraction in the universe of public companies accessible to investors.

This decline contrasts with the sustained expansion of private markets. According to Preqin and McKinsey (2024), assets under management in private markets reached $13.1 trillion at the end of 2023, up from $6.5 trillion in 2018, with projections indicating that they could reach $24.4 trillion by 2029. This rebalancing is also reflected in institutional portfolios: major U.S. university endowments allocate, on average, 54% of their assets to alternative investments, while global pension funds allocate approximately 28%, compared with just 5% in 2000. According to the NACUBO-Commonfund Study (2023) and Willis Towers Watson’s Global Pension Assets Study (2024), these figures confirm a sustained migration of capital from public markets toward private market structures.

Against this backdrop, the diploma program seeks to address the growing need for highly qualified professionals capable of analyzing, structuring, and implementing investment strategies in global private markets, combining advanced portfolio management tools with a practical, applied approach.

The Diploma Program in Alternative Investments and Private Markets will provide a comprehensive overview of the main alternative asset classes and their role within advanced investment and wealth diversification strategies. Over 120 academic hours across six modules, participants will cover topics such as preparing an Investment Policy Statement (IPS)and an Investment Committee Memorandum, asset allocation, investing across different private market strategies, performance measurement, due diligence, manager selection and evaluation, the construction of diversified portfolios, and the study of key trends and dynamics shaping global private markets.

The program is designed for professionals working in the financial sector, private banking, wealth management, investment funds, family offices, corporate finance, and institutional investing, including Afores, pension funds, endowments, and foundations. It is also open to entrepreneurs and executives interested in strengthening their knowledge of financial assets, portfolio construction, and the evaluation of sophisticated investment opportunities.

Bulltick’s academic coordination of the program will be led by Humberto Bañuelos, Managing Director and Head of Private Clients at Bulltick. He previously served as Head of BBVA International Private Banking for the Americas, as well as CEO of BBVA Bancomer Casa de Bolsa and Asset Management in Mexico. Bañuelos will share his experience alongside professionals with more than 15 years of industry experience, as well as guest speakers from internationally recognized investment funds.

“This diploma program represents an opportunity for financial professionals to deepen their knowledge of alternative investments and advanced wealth management tools, while developing practical skills that can be applied to the construction of diversified and strategic portfolios,” said Humberto Bañuelos.

At ITAM, the program’s academic coordination will be led by Sylvia Meljem, Director of ITAM’s Academic Department of Accounting and its Center for Accounting Research and Professional Engagement, who highlighted the importance of the alliance in strengthening executive education in Mexico:

“This collaboration with Bulltick allows us to provide our students and participants with a practical and up-to-date perspective on global private markets, combining ITAM’s academic excellence with the direct experience of financial industry professionals.”

Registration for the Diploma Program in Alternative Investments and Private Markets is now open. The program will begin on October 27, 2026, and will be delivered primarily online, with three in-person sessions held over the course of the program.
