Virginia State Police are investigating an alleged arson and homicide after man was found dead Saturday night. State police were called to the 6000 block of Lankford Hwy. around 9:30 p.m. after the New Church Fire department found the body of 62-year-old Edward Bruce Mears Jr. The home is near the Maryland state line, a similar incident had happened in Worcester County, Maryland.
