Berkshire Hathaway's first-quarter profit more than doubled as the value of its investments improved and most of its businesses reported higher earnings. The conglomerate that Warren Buffett built released its earnings report Saturday as thousands of shareholders streamed into an Omaha, Nebraska, arena to attend the company's annual meeting. This year's meeting will be the first one that Buffett won't lead after Greg Abel was promoted to CEO in January. Attendance is expected to be down somewhat from the record levels of recent years when the crowd topped 40,000.
