Bulgarians are heading to the polls for the eighth time in five years hoping to finally elect a parliament that will be capable of resolving the prolonged political impasse that has gripped the country. Sunday's snap vote follows the resignation of a conservative-led government amid nationwide protests in December 2025 that drew hundreds of thousands, mainly young people, to the streets, calling for an independent judiciary to fight widespread corruption. Polling stations close at 8 p.m. Preliminary results are expected on Monday.
