A 48-year-old woman from Chicago has been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of a 7-year-old girl. Shavon Gayden was initially scheduled to appear for a hearing Monday morning, but was hospitalized. That is according to an email by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. Police say the girl was walking in the Chatham neighborhood Saturday morning when a woman approached her with a sharp object and repeatedly stabbed her in the back. Police say Gayden was taken to a hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening.
