Some Cornell students have staged a sit-in at a dining hall and vowed not to spend money on campus to protest sexual violence and how the university has handled complaints. It is the latest expression of outrage on campus over an alleged 2024 gang rape at a fraternity house. Groups organizing the demonstration promised to keep the sit-in going for seven hours. They want the university to retool disciplinary procedures and to expel or revoke the degrees of anyone involved in the alleged October 2024 sexual assault at the Chi Phi fraternity. Several of the men named in the lawsuit told university investigators the sexual activity was consensual or said they hadn’t been involved.
