President Donald Trump says that he has demanded about seven countries send warships to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, as Iranian strikes continued to rain down on Gulf countries. Dubai International Airport β€” the world’s busiest β€” suspended operations early Monday after a drone struck a fuel tank, starting a fire. Authorities said it was quickly contained and no injuries were reported. Tehran has accused the United States of using β€œports, docks and hideouts” in the United Arab Emirates to launch strikes onΒ Kharg Island, home to the main terminal handling Iran’s oil exports, without providing evidence, as oil prices soared.

Two Iraqi securiting officials say a missile struck a helipad inside the U.S. Embassy compound in Baghdad. Associated Press footage showed a column of smoke rising Saturday morning over the embassy compound. The sprawling embassy complex, one of the largest U.S. diplomatic facilities in the world, has been repeatedly targeted by rockets and drones fired by Iran-aligned militias.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom says there's no imminent threat to the state from Iran. ABC News says the FBI has warned California that Iran could send drones to the West Coast in retaliation for war. President Donald Trump was asked about it Wednesday at Joint Base Andrews. He says, β€œIt's being investigated.” Newsom says California and various agencies plan for worst-case scenarios. Police in Los Angeles and San Francisco say they are monitoring world events for any risks to their cities.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he is awaiting White House approval for a major drone production agreement proposed by Kyiv last year. He said Thursday that the deal would cover various types of drones and air defenses to protect against swarms of Iranian-designed Shahed drones. Countries are scrambling to modernize their air defenses after the Iran war exposed shortcomings. Russia has fired tens of thousands of Shaheds at Ukraine since it invaded its neighbor just over four years ago. Iran has responded to joint U.S.-Israeli strikes by firing the same type of drones at targets in the Middle East.
