Hundreds of people have lost power and have been told to evacuate in the Four Corners area. Emergency crews staged overnight rescues, and roads and bridges remained closed Saturday because of severe flooding in Colorado and New Mexico. Authorities expected more rain Saturday in the region where the borders of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah meet. Two months of heavy rains in the area ended a summer drought, and from Wednesday through Friday, a total of 4 inches fell on saturated ground. Another inch was possible Saturday. San Juan County, New Mexico, Emergency Management said it staged 20 rescues in the Farmington and Shiprock, New Mexico, area overnight.

Severe flooding in the Four Corners region has led to water rescues and impassable roads. Some residents were told to evacuate, while others were advised to shelter in place. The flooding followed several days of heavy rain that swamped homes in Utah and led to evacuations in Colorado and New Mexico. Earlier in the week, tornadoes in Arizona caused damage and injuries. An unknown number of people have been rescued by New Mexico National Guard boats and helicopters, some from rooftops. Colorado's governor declared a disaster emergency in 11 counties in response to the flooding.
