Visitors to Athens can now enjoy an unobstructed view of the Parthenon. The scaffolding on the western façade, set up for conservation work 20 years ago, has been removed. This change, completed in late September, offers a clear view of the UNESCO World Heritage site. Culture Minister Lina Mendoni says it’s the first time in about 200 years that the Parthenon is free of scaffolding on any side. However, new scaffolding will be erected in about a month for ongoing conservation. This work is expected to last until early summer 2026. The Acropolis remains Greece’s most popular tourist site.
