A drone strike has caused a fire outside a nuclear power plant in Abu Dhabi, according to authorities in the United Arab Emirates. The fire broke out Sunday in an external electrical generator at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant. There were no injuries or impact on radiological safety levels. The UAE’s nuclear regulator confirmed the plant’s safety, stating all units are operating normally. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. This marks the first time the Barakah plant has been targeted in the Iran war. The plant, built with South Korea’s help, went online in 2020.
