Militants affiliated with the Islamic State group have killed 48 people in the Ménaka region of eastern Mali. A lawmaker told the Associated Press on Tuesday that fighters from the Islamic State in Sahel Province attacked from Sunday night into Monday morning. The casualties included children and the elderly. Moussa Ag Acharatoumane, a Tuareg leader and member of the National Transitional Council, said the armed group targeted civilians. They accused them of revealing ISSP positions to the Malian army, which had been conducting a drone strike on the group.
