State media in the United Arab Emirates reports that a drone attack sparked a fire at an oil tank farm in the emirate of Fujairah. The UAE also closed its airspace briefly Tuesday as the military responded to missile and drone threats from Iran. Meanwhile, Israel says it launched new attacks across Tehran and in Beirut, where it says it is targeting Hezbollah. On Monday, President Trump said countries were joining an effort to police the Strait of Hormuz, but he suggested some countries’ reluctance showed a lack of reciprocity in defense agreements with the United States.

Iran has warned people to evacuate three major ports in the United Arab Emirates, including the busiest in the Middle East, as its war with the U.S. and Israel enters its third week. Tehran's warning Saturday was its first open threat to a neighboring country's non-U.S. assets. It said the U.S. had attacked Kharg Island, crucial to Iran's oil sector, from the UAE. President Donald Trump has said the U.S. destroyed military sites on Kharg Island and warned that its oil infrastructure could be next. Trump has said he hopes other countries send warships to keep the Strait of Hormuz “open and safe."

Pakistan's president says that Afghanistan’s Taliban government has “crossed a red line” with drone attacks that wounded several people a day earlier. He said on Saturday that the administration in Kabul has brought “grave consequences upon itself.” The strongly worded statement signaled a sharp escalation in tensions between Islamabad and Kabul as fighting along their border entered a third week despite diplomatic efforts by China and other countries to broker a ceasefire. On Friday, the Afghan Taliban government accused Pakistan of conducting airstrikes inside Afghanistan, saying at least six civilians were killed.
