U.S.-based blockchain intelligence firm TRM says a North Korean hacking unit was likely behind a massive theft incident at Binance. The world’s biggest cryptocurrency exchange reported Thursday that approximately $6.3 billion was impacted in an apparent hack. The company has worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with roughly $3 billion frozen. TRM attributes the attack to TraderTraitor, North Korea’s elite hacking unit. The hack moved about $6.36 billion out of Binance wallets on 10 blockchains, it says, making it the largest cryptocurrency theft on record. Another blockchain analysis firm, Chainalysis, also believes the Binance hack was likely done by TraderTraitor.

Mississippi has released video showing the fatal shooting of a 1-year-old boy by a police officer. Kohen Wiley was killed in June when Senatobia police officer Sgt. Hunter Foster fired his gun into a moving vehicle while responding to a shoplifting call. State authorities have cleared Foster of criminal wrongdoing.  Foster’s attorney says his client had “no choice” but to shoot at the vehicle because it was going to hit him. But Kohen’s family says footage shows the shooting was not justified. Ben Crump, who is representing the family, says Foster was not in danger when he fired into the vehicle. Crump says the video shows Foster fired the fatal shot from the passenger side of the car.
