President Donald Trump is set to observe the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks by attending a ceremony at the Pentagon. In a downpour at daybreak Friday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and top military officials stood outside the Pentagon and watched as a giant American flag was unfurled on the building struck by one of the hijacked planes a quarter century ago. The attacks claimed nearly 3,000 lives. Trump, originally from New York, last attended the ground zero ceremony there in 2024. Vice President JD Vance will attend Friday's New York observance, while other officials will go to Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
