Russian missile and drone strikes on Kyiv and its surrounding region have killed at least 15 people and wounded 42 others. The attack overnight into Wednesday is part of a series of large-scale Russian ballistic missile strikes that have become frequent this summer. Ukraine faces challenges intercepting these strikes due to a limited stockpile of interceptor missiles for its U.S.-made Patriot systems. Kyiv officials said one person was killed in the capital and crews extinguished fires that were sparked by the strikes. Ukraine’s emergence service said 14 people were killed and 27 wounded in the wider region around the capital.
