U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin (both D-Md.), along with U.S. Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.), announced Thursday that the Department of Homeland Security will release an additional 35,000 H-2B temporary nonagricultural worker visas for the second half of fiscal year 2022.

The demand for crabs this summer will be high, but the number of people working to get them to your table remains low. On Tuesday, the United States Department of Labor, along with the Department of Homeland Security released 22,000 additional supplemental H-2B visas. Each year, 66,000 H-2B visas are granted. 33,000 per season. However, the program is a lottery program.
