A Day in the Life of a Roofer Spicer Bro s Wednesday April 15 2015 YouTube

Sean joins Spicer Bros. Construction for a day in the life of a roofer. Brian Spicer started the company with his brother in  2002. The company does siding, windows, and decking as well.

A roofer’s day relies heavily on the weather because they cannot work when it is raining or snowing. Sean chose a day that was nice and sunny, so it was time for Sean to be a roofer.

Sean straps into a safety harness and Brian prepares him to start working on the roof. After the shingles are removed, weak spots in the roof are repaired with plywood. Then, an ice and water shield layer is put down to protect the roof from those weather conditions. The crew puts down an underlayment of the homeowners choice, which acts as a weather barrier.

Lastly, it is time to lay the shingles. Brian says he likes this job because he gets to deal with homeowners, as opposed to contractors. He says the homeowners are living there and they know what they want. Therefore, they call Spicer Bros. because they want it done right.
