According to his online bio, Hawkeye “offers a secular and non-sectarian approach to being at peace with the world (both within and around us), with the intention to awaken, enlighten, enrich and inspire.”

Hawkeye, who says he left the “corporate world” for Hawaii 10 years ago, has written two books detailing his spiritual experiences. Hawkeye is a practicing Buddhist, and believes that “faith is a spiritual practice of continually letting go of certainty, of ego, and of the underlying compulsive need to know, while religion is a traditional, ceremonial practice of attachment to concrete dogmas, stubborn rigidity, and ageless ritual.”

Hawkeye said he believes that “It is very possible (and perfectly okay) for people who are Catholic, Muslim or Jewish, for example, to still find the Buddha’s teachings motivational.”

Hawkeye is holding a book tour across the U.S through 2016.

Saturday’s event is open and free to the public.
