Amy Wigglesworth, 2016 Mar-Del Watermelon Queen, stopped by the studio today to teach us how to make her no-bake watermelon cake.
Amy says that as the 2016 Mar-Del Watermelon Queen, she has the privilege of traveling and educating the public on the nutritional benefits of eating watermelon, which include all sorts of vitamins.
She is not new to the pageant world and her previous titles include, Ms. Frostburg, as well as the Somerset County Fair Queen. Amy is a Salisbury University undergrad working towards a degree in communications.
She says the first step in making the summer treat is making sure that all your fruits are clean. After that she says to start about five inches in and cut off the rind, but leave the watermelon as round as possible.
Once you get your piece, which should look just like a layer of cake, dry it out. The next step is to apply vanilla Greek yogurt all over your layer of watermelon.
The last step is to sprinkle your frosted watermelon cake with almonds, strawberries and blueberries. Then simply cut and enjoy.
