The Dover Air force Base Air Mobility Command Museum (AMC) is our country’s only airlift and refueling museum, and it’s about to turn 30 years old.
To celebrate the museum has planned their biggest event ever, a 3 day long “Festival of Flight”.

“It is a big milestone. We’ve gone from nothing to the third largest museum in the Air Force system in 30 years,” said museum director Mike Leister.
The event is designed to “honor the history and sacrifices our airmen have made in flight, while celebrating the museum’s aircraft which have influenced the freedom that our country was founded on.”
A kick off party will be held Friday Sept. 23, at 6 p.m. that will feature heavy hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer and live jazz music by the Milford Community Band.
Lt. Gen. Welser, retired DAFB Wing Commander, will be in attendance as a special guest.

Attendees will have the chance to many exciting prizes including a flight around the Statue of Liberty and even a viewing party of the movie Top Gun inside a plane.
Tickets for the Kick off party are still available and can be purchased at Air Mobility Command Museum Store. All proceeds benefit the AMC Museum Foundation.
The fun continues on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Reenactors will be on hand as well as food vendors, bounce houses and special guest. Attendees will be able to tour over 20 aircraft and for the first time ever, get a glimpse inside the F-106 Delta Dart and F-101 Voodoo fighter jets. Admission is free.

It provides visitors a unique look at our country’s military history. Their collection of aircraft, which started out with one broken down plane, has grown to over 30 and includes everything from a UH-1 helicopter, better known as a Huey, to the larger than life C-5 Galaxy.
