If your child is sick and in the hospital for a long period of time, the hospital bills, hotel stays, and food can add up.
That’s where the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware comes in to help those families.
Laura Marek tells us that the Ronald McDonald organization provides meals, transportation, and support services at no charge to the family. The Ronald McDonald House helps 2,200 families each year with 26% being from Sussex County, Del.
Their 5th annual 5k run/walk is at Irish Eyes in Lewes, Del. The event is Sept. 17 at 8:30 am and open to all ages. The cost if you pre-register is $25 for adults and $18 for students. There is a “kiddie k” at 8:15 am for children under 8-years-old. The “kiddie k” is free and kids who participate receive a prize at the end.
Laura tells us that the money raised from this event stays in Delaware and helps the families that stay with them every year.
Laura says the families they help are so grateful and they are happy they can be close to their children and give them support without having to cover costs of a hotel and transportation.
