Laser technology is helping more patients get on the road to recovery faster.
Lisa sat down with Dr. Kevin McKamey, with Delmarva Chiropractic, about laser therapy. Dr. McKamey says before lasers were used on humans, they were used on race horses. Injured horses that were exposed to certain wavelengths of light healed faster and they could go back and run on the racetrack without limping.
Dr. McKamey says there is immediate results from laser therapy. He said it works well with strains and ligaments in the knee.
Patients might feel a warming or tingling sensation during laser therapy, but it is not dangerous, and most patients feel nothing. Depending on the type of tissues being treated, laser therapy only takes about 5-10 minutes.
