Friday on DelmarvaLife, we learned about National Adoption Day, which takes place Saturday, November 21, 2015. Destiny Ness, of Hebron, along with her adoptive mother, Amy, joined us to tell us more about the journey that led them to each other.

We also learned about the process of adopting or fostering a child. Tri-County Regional Resource Home Recruiter, Ne-Shant Sims, ran down many of the requirements candidates must meet. There are informational sessions that must be attended, and training classes. Ne-Shant told us there are other technical requirements, including:

  • Candidates must be 21 years or older
  • Single or married
  • Medical Exams
  • Criminal Background Checks
  • Home Assessments
