As Hurricane Milton barrels through the South, the Brandywine Valley SPCA (BVSPCA) is getting ready to lend a helping paw to dogs and cats from the hurricane-affected areas. The organization is trying to make space in their already overcrowded shelters to welcome these furry evacuees, expecting many new furry friends in the coming days.

Four dogs rescued from severe neglect in Bridgeville last month are now healthy and ready to find new homes at the Brandywine Valley SPCA. The Labrador retriever mixes were among 20 dogs saved from a property where some were found dying or already dead. The dogs have spent the last month recovering from serious health issues and long-term abuse.

In the aftermath of a recent investigation into animal abuse in a Felton home, where 76 animals were rescued, an adoption event hosted by Brandywine Valley SPCA Saturday provided a ray of hope for the dogs recovered as many finally had the chance for adoption.
