JIMMY SET

Jimmy Hoppa went into surgery this morning a few minutes before 8 a.m. Jimmy had open heart surgery to replace the ascending aorta and repair, or replace, the aortic valve.

Jimmy posted on his Facebook page last night, prior to surgery, saying that he will not be listed on the hospital census. “While I love and appreciate the fact that you’d like to visit, that’s more than I can ask her (his wife, Carol) to manage,” Jimmy writes.

“I have been absolutely overwhelmed by the prayers and support I’ve received from you. It’s beyond my wildest expectations or imaginings. ‘Thank you’ just doesn’t cover it,” says Jimmy.

Jimmy’s good friend, Bill Sammons, with 88.7 The Bridge, a Christian radio station here on Delmarva, posted updates on Jimmy’s Facebook page throughout the morning:

Our friend Jimmy Hoppa went into surgery a few minutes before 8:00 this morning. Please pray as you think of him this morning, and pray for Carol too. I will update this page when he is in recovery.

The latest text message update from Jimmy’s wife Carol said, “They are taking him off ventilator now. Goal was 7 p.m., but our God is good.”

The ladies Jimmy works alongside with, whom are jokingly refereed to as his “work wives,” Lacee Griffith, who he co-anchors WBOC News this Morning with, and Lisa Bryant, who he co-anchors DelmarvaLife with, were excited to hear that his surgery went well. Everyone else at WBOC was thankful to hear his surgery went well, and so we’re many people on Delmarva who posted kind words on his Facebook page.
