SALISBURY, Md.- After a one-year hiatus, Salisbury’s “Peace in the Park” event is making its return on Saturday, Sept. 16 in the Salisbury City Park.
“Peace in the Park” was first held in Salisbury in 2009 in celebration of the annual United Nations’ International Day of Peace. This year’s international theme is “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All.”
The public is invited to join in the festivities, pack a picnic lunch, bring a canned good for the Maryland Food Bank, and meet new and old kindred spirits sharing ways to stop violence and increase peace. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on picnic island in the park, behind Ben’s Red Swings.
