The bond people form with their pets is amazing. Sometimes, can animal can go beyond being just a pet – they can be a colleague. That’s the case with K-9 units around Delmarva.
Sean Streicher talks with Lt. Andrew McGee with the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office about how important K-9’s are to the police officers. There are seven patrol dogs in Worcester County. Five of them are strictly patrol dogs and two are explosive dogs. During the recent bomb scares at schools in the county, the explosive dogs responded to them.
In 2009, Sheriff Mason wanted to help raise money for the retired K-9’s. Lt. McGee also tells us about the “hot dog system.”
The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office is selling calendars which feature the K-9 dogs, as well as apparel and cups that you can pick up to help support he K-9 unit. 100% of the proceeds go to the Worcester County Sheriff’s office K-9 unit.
