Robbie “Maddo” Maddison is one of the most feared FMX competitors in the world. Maddo bends the laws of physics with the astounding jumps he has completed such as a sailing over a football field with ease, back flipping over the opened Tower Bridge in London, and leaping over 300 feet across the Corinth Canal, just to name a few of his heart-racing stunts. His most recent stunt has caught the attention of people all over the world.
Maddo had a dream. He wanted to ride his dirt bike on the waves of Tahiti and bring the beauty of nature and machine together. After all the stunts he has pulled off, it shouldn’t come to a shock to you that Maddo made his “pipe dream” a reality this summer.
It took almost 3 years to build and test the dirt bike to make it so it could glide across the water. The team at DC Shoes learned a lot as they were helping to make this dream a reality. In summer 2015, Maddo, and the DC Shoes team, traveled to Tahiti to show their machine off to the world. Many doubted Maddo’s pipe dream. He once again proved the skeptics wrong and he can check pipe dream off of his bucket list.
DelmarvaLife’s Sean Streicher enjoys surfing and he said, “I just think it’s amazing. I can only imagine what it would be like out there surfing in the ocean and seeing that. I kept wanting to see him turn up the wave and jump it.”
Delmarva local, Joshua Willin, raced motocross for years and after watching the video, he was in awe. “Seems pretty wild, but definitely fun. I can only imagine what it’s like to ride a dirt bike across the ocean. It would be so incredible and exciting. I raced for 10 years and have never seen anything like this before,” says Willin.
Maddo says, “It’s not about being the first or being right. It’s about believing in yourself because you know something is possible.”
