Tim Gola was fishing during a charter on the ‘Last $’ on Friday when he started having chest pains. Therefore, Capt. Rodney Meyers and Capt. Chris Ragni called the United States Coast Guard.

The call was for a vessel in distress off of Ocean City, Md. The USCG arrived to the vessel shortly to medevac the patient. As you can see in the video, the boat is still moving as the helicopter approaches. Many people that have watched the video of USCG Air Station Atlantic City’s hoist have questioned why the boat was still moving during the hoist. Aviation Maintenance Technician, Nick Broaddus, who was part of Friday’s hoist, answers the question.
“It keeps the boat steady and more predicable”, Nick says, “If it’s stopped, it moves around in the swells a lot and can get the antennas and outriggers moving. It is also more predicable with the wind so it can hold a steadier hover.”
Nick says they were really lucky with the weather and the winds. He said the crew on the boat did a great job helping.

I would like to share this video of a rescue that I witnessed and part of of saving my very good friend and fishing partner Tim Gola, Tim was suffering bad chest pains so captain Rodney Meyers and captain Chris Ragni made the call to the finest USCG who did a excellent job take my friend away. Tim suffered a heart attack had a blockage in his heart, doctors at hospital told him he only had a hour or two left if he didnt call coast guard. I would like to take this time to thank captain Rodney Meyer’s and captain Chris Ragni Larry Lee Gregory Roberts Chris Huk and myself help save my friend life by keep him alert and talking till help came. Please everyone if your having chest pain please go to er and get checked I almost lost a dear friend. Tim is still in hospital doing well and comming home today. Lol all he wants is his tuna that he caught that I have on ice, sushi lol. Tim thank you for holding on, we can fish again soon.

According to Steven Williams, Tim suffered a heart attack due to a blockage in his heart. The USCG helped save Tim’s life and Nick says he is glad to know that the patient is doing alright.
Nick says this is exactly what they train for.
