Today on DelmarvaLife:
We want to join the thousands of people across Delmarva in sending thoughts and prayers to the family of 12-year-old Brooke Mulford. Brooke’s battle with neuroblastoma – an aggressive form of cancer – ended early this morning. Brooke was born and raised in Salisbury, but later moved to New Jersey to be closer to her doctors. Throughout Brooke’s battle, she never lost hope and continued to fight. Brooke’s mother, Amy, posted on Facebook this morning —
“At 1:04 a.m., Brooke went from my arms to the arms of Jesus… Sweet Brooke, you were the most amazing person I ever met. Your smile lit up my heart and the whole world. It was my absolute privilege and honor to be your mommy. I miss everything about you already. I love you to heaven and back…”
Brooke inspired Brooke’s Toy Closet at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Children who are hospitalized receive a toy from the closet. Be sure to tune in Friday, June 16, at 5 pm as we will learn more about that initiative. Read more about Brooke Mulford here.
We’ve talked about Alzheimer’s Disease many times on DelmarvaLife. When a diagnosis impacts your family, it can be quite a challenge to come to terms with what the future holds. There are resources on Delmarva to help with that, such as the team at Delmar Assisted Living. 102.5 WBOC’s Corey Phoebus recently stopped by Delmar Assisted Living to learn more about tools they’re using to help residents live their life to the fullest.
Lt. Tim Robinson with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office has a new list of most wanted for us. See today’s Most Wanted Monday here.
A new family entertainment center in Lewes is cranking up the fun this summer. Lefty’s Alley and Eats has a bowling alley, laser tag, a bar featuring local craft beer from the Crooked Hammock in Lewes, and great food. Lefty’s Alley and Eats is a great place to take the whole family this summer.
Many homeowners do not put much thought into the crawl space under their home. However, problems under your house can create even bigger problems in your living space. If the problems are not fixed, they could lead to a disaster. Lisa recently met up with Sales Manager at Dry Zone, Scott Wagman, to get a look at exactly what happens under your home or business if the tight space is not protected. Lisa and Scott suit up and head under a building to see all the damage moisture can cause under your home if not taken care of in a timely manner.
We really enjoy when CEO of Shore Craft Beer, Ann Hillyer, stops by the DelmarvaLife studio because it usually means were taste testing local craft beer. We’re getting a taste of the 2nd Annual Shore Craft Beer Fest: Salisbury Riverwalk event taking place on June 24 at Salisbury Riverwalk from 12:30 pm- 4:30 pm. The event is free for kids and non-drinkers, and pets are welcome! To get tickets to this event, go here. For discounted tickets, use the code WBOC to save $5. WBOC is a proud sponsor of this event.
