We’re Dedicating The Show To The “Women of Worcester”

Untitled

You can achieve whatever you put your mind to. So long, as you put in the work and you aren’t afraid to ask for help when you need it. That mindset holds true for our first “Woman of Worcester”, Jessica Collins, Detective Corporal with the Berlin Police Department. A title she’s earned with hard work, dedication, and sacrifice, over and over again. But, she says, she’s willing to do it all because serving the public is in her blood. Katie’s in Berlin to learn more.

There’s so much more than goes into being an educator. Does the beginning of a career in education start when you go to college and get a degree? For some, it does. But then, there are those who use their backgrounds as a way to connect with students. That’s the case for our next “Woman of Worcester”, Dr. Kimberly Purvis, Principal of Snow Hill High School. In order to do her job, she reaches way back to when she was a student. Lisa connected with her to learn more.

It’s quite an understatement to say that times have changed since I went to school. Really, times have changed since just last year. These days, educators have to be on their toes to identify students who may be struggling to deal with change or have other issues going on outside of the classroom. Our next “Woman of Worcester” is Lauren Williams, she’s the point guard, if you will, for teachers and staff to recognize when a student may be struggling with more than just math and science.

57 years ago, a group of artists came together to form the Ocean City Art League. The Art League provides a place for artists to show their work off in Ocean City. This was a dream for Executive Director, Rina Thaler. A dream that began – as many do – with a summer-time trip to the beach. Lisa’s in Ocean City to find out more.
