Gerald Hocker
- Political Experience? Yes
Gerald Hocker is seeking reelection with a focus on infrastructure, traffic congestion and energy costs. A Sussex County native, Hocker has served in the Delaware Senate since 2012. He and his wife own and operate several businesses in Clarksville, Ocean View and the Bethany Beach area.
Hocker cites his experience as a small-business owner and state legislator as influencing his approach to government spending and economic policy. He identifies traffic, infrastructure improvements and rising electricity costs as major concerns for residents of his district.
Hocker has proposed legislation, including Senate Bill 65, that would withdraw Delaware from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, a multistate program aimed at reducing power plant emissions. He argues that leaving the program would lower electricity costs for residents. Hocker also emphasizes fiscal responsibility and the importance of considering the financial impact of legislation on businesses and taxpayers.
If reelected, Hocker says he plans to continue addressing infrastructure needs, energy affordability and constituent concerns while bringing a business owner's perspective to the Delaware General Assembly.
