Collin O'Mara currently lives in Bear with his wife and daughters. O'Mara graduated from Dartmouth College and Oxford University as a Marshall Scholar before serving as a University Fellow at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. He also taught as an adjunct professor on climate change and environmental justice at the University of Delaware.
O'Mara's previous experience includes being the Secretary of Natural Resources and Environmental Control from 2009-2014 under Gov. Jack Markell. While with DNREC, he achieved reductions in air pollution, statewide recycling, bolstered climate resilience, built clean energy and expanded public trails, parks, and wildlife refuges. He was the youngest cabinet secretary in the nation when he was appointed in 2009 at the age of 29. O'Mara also is the CEO of the National Wildlife Federation, holding a role in helping pass the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Great American Outdoors Act and the Delaware River Basin Conservation Act.
