SMYRNA, Del. - A 15-year-old boy was flown to a hospital on Thursday after his electric scooter collided with a car in Smyrna, according to police.
The Smyrna Police Department says a Toyota Camry was driving north on Streamside Circle within the Christina Apartments Development on July 30 just before 9:30 p.m. At the same time, the 15-year-old was riding an electric scooter southbound on Streamside Circle, according to investigators.
Police say the Camry attempted to make a left-hand turn while the scooter continued straight through an intersection. The scooter was then struck head-on.
The teen was flown to a nearby hospital where he is currently being treated, according to authorities, while the 23-year-old driver of the Camry was not injured.
The Smyrna Police Department says their investigation into the crash continues and ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call them at 302-653-9217.
