Davarn Leach

OCEAN CITY, MD - The Worcester County State’s Attorney has announced the sentencing of an 18-year-old Baltimore man for an armed robbery in Ocean City in 2022.

According to the State’s Attorney’s Office, police were called to Dorchester Street on November 18, 2022. There, a victim told investigators he had been standing by his car when a group of men attacked him. One of the suspects produced a semi-automatic handgun, pointed it at the victim, and then used it to strike the victim while demanding money, his car keys, and his cell phone, according to the State’s Attorney. The suspects then fled in the victim’s car. The victim was treated at a local hospital for a laceration from the attack.

Ocean City Police were able to locate the stolen car as it was fleeing on westbound Route 50 and notified other agencies with jurisdiction over the route. The car eventually crashed in Cambridge, MD, and officers identified the passenger, Davarn Leach, of Baltimore, as the robbery suspect, when they reportedly found the victim’s keys and a stolen silver handgun in his possession.

On Friday, December 15, 2023, Leach was sentenced to 20 years with 8 years suspended. After Leach’s 12 year active sentence, he will be placed on 3 years supervised probation, according to Worcester County State’s Attorney Kris Heiser.
