PARKSLEY, Va. - Multiple fire companies were on the scene of an overturned concrete truck in Accomack County on Monday.
On June 29 at about 11:15 a.m., the Parksley Volunteer Fire Company, alongside the Bloxom Volunteer Fire Company, were dispatched to a vehicle crash around the area of Hopeton Road and Christine Lane outside of the town of Parksley.
According to first responders, a concrete truck flipped in the middle of the roadway, spilling concrete and blocking both lanes of travel.
The fire company describes how the driver of the vehicle safely exited before EMS arrived and was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Firefighters say the roadway was closed for about three hours while crews worked to remove the truck and clear the roadway. Water was continuously sprayed on the spilled concrete to prevent it from hardening on the pavement.
The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
