DELAWARE – With temperatures expected to remain above 90 degrees for several days, the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) has activated cooling centers across the state.
The centers are open June 10 through June 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and provide air-conditioned spaces where residents can cool down and stay hydrated during the heat wave.
Cooling center locations include:
Sussex County
Adams State Service Center, 546 Bedford St., Georgetown
Laurel State Service Center, 31039 N. Poplar St., Laurel
Shipley State Service Center, 350 Virginia Ave., Seaford
Kent County
Smyrna State Service Center, 100 Sunnyside Rd., Smyrna
Williams State Service Center, 805 River Rd., Dover
New Castle County
Claymont State Service Center, 3301 Green St., Claymont
DHSS Canby Park Office, 1920 Maryland Ave., Wilmington
Churchman’s Corporate Center, 84 Christiana Rd., New Castle
Hudson State Service Center, 501 Ogletown Rd., Newark
Officials say the sites are open to anyone seeking relief from the heat.
