DOVER, Del.– Officials say phone and internet services have been restored after strong storms and an EF-1 tornado caused outages Thursday.
City Hall employees organized communication alternatives for some departments during the outage and say 911 service was not impacted.
Friday, Dover lifted a state of emergency which had urged neighbors to stay inside as emergency crews began assessing the damage immediately following the storms.
Delaware's Community Emergency Response Team and the American Red Cross helped kickstart cleanup, with the latter also assisting those displaced from the Super Lodge on US 13.
Officials say while other neighbors may have requested help from the Red Cross, the nonprofit's resources are stretched thin and require specific eligibility factors.
City leaders thanked all those involved in the recovery process, from first responders to donors and volunteers.
As the community continues to assess damage and clear debris, the City says there will be no limit on yard waste pickup for the next two weeks. Scheduled pickup days will remain the same.
