SALISBURY, MD - A routine compliance check of local businesses by the Wicomico County Alcohol Task Force has resulted in 4 establishments being cited for allegedly selling alcohol to a person under 21.

Members of the Task Force include the Wicomico County Liquor License Department, the Maryland State Police, Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, and the Salisbury Police Department.

According to Chief Inspector Richard Gardner of the Wicomico Board of License Commissioners, the Task Force conducted the compliance check yesterday, September 28th. Gardner says 26 establishments were checked, with 22 of them passing:

1) Market Street Inn 130 West Market Street Salisbury, MD 21801 

2) Top Ten 829 West Isabella Street Salisbury, MD 21801 

3) The Rack 1210 Nanticoke Road Unit 5 Salisbury, MD. 21801 

4) Countryside Market 27215 Nanticoke Road Salisbury, MD 21801 

5) Soul Sista’s 28510 Ocean Gateway Salisbury, MD 21801 

6) Hebron Food Rite 100 South Main Street Hebron, MD 21830 

7) Mardela Goose Creek 24948 Ocean Gateway Mardela Springs, MD. 21837 

8) Wise Mart II 806 Main Street Sharptown, MD 21861 

9) Center City Exxon 500 South Salisbury Blvd. Salisbury, MD 21801 

10) 409 Beer and Wine 411 North Fruitland Blvd. Fruitland, MD 21826

22) Madd Hatter 501 West Main Street Salisbury, MD 21804 

4 establishments may now have to appear before the Board of License Commissioners for hearings on the alleged sale of alcohol to someone under 21, according to Gardner. Clerks at the establishments who allegedly made the sales will be charged by officers of the Task Force, he goes on to say.
