Travels With Charlie: 2nd Annual Renaissance Faire at Furnace Town

SNOW HILL, Md. - Furnace Town Historic Site outside of Snow Hill has announced that its popular Renaissance Faire will not be held in 2026, citing financial challenges and limited sponsorship support.

In a letter to supporters shared on social media July 8, Executive Director Claudia Nagle said the organization made the difficult decision after careful consideration. According to the announcement, the postponement reflects reduced financial resources needed to produce an event of the fair's size and quality.

The Renaissance Faire has become one of Furnace Town's signature events, drawing visitors from across the region with historical demonstrations, entertainment, vendors, and family-friendly activities.

Nagle thanked the vendors, performers, volunteers, sponsors, and guests who have supported the event over the years.

"This postponement will allow Furnace Town to focus our resources on sustaining our mission, preserving this historic site, and ensuring that when the Renaissance Faire returns, it will provide the engaging and memorable experience our community has come to expect," Wednesday’s announcement reads.

Despite the cancellation, Furnace Town officials say the Renaissance Faire is expected to return in September 2027. The organization says it remains committed to preserving the historic site while continuing to create educational and community experiences for future generations.

Furnace Town thanked supporters for their understanding, patience, and continued support as it works toward bringing the event back in 2027.
