CAMBRIDGE, MD– Two Dorchester County buildings will receive millions of dollars in Historic Revitalization Tax Credits from the Maryland Department of Planning.
The Harrington & Bayly Building dates back to the 1910s and was awarded $1 million, according to a press release.
Revitalization will include the reintroduction of commercial spaces – complimented by the still-intact storefront – as well as eight new apartments.
The Johnson Building at 527 Poplar Street will also see improvements – including the addition of second-story apartments and restoration of the first-floor commercial and restaurant spaces.
Dating back to 1898, the building housed a hardware store over a century ago, followed by businesses including a jewelry store, a pool room and a confectionery.
The Maryland Historical Trust granted $418,000 for the Johnson Building project.
