BRIDGEVILLE, Del. - ORGANIZERS OF Delaware's ORIGINAL Punkin CHUNKIN ARE LOOKING TO BRING IT BACK HERE ON Delmarva. THE UNSANCTIONED EVENT LAST HAPPENED IN Bridgeville, WHERE PEOPLE COULD SEE PUMPKINS SHOOT OUT OF CANONS. PEOPLe share their THOUGHTS ON WHERE ORGANIZERS WOULD LIKE its NEW HOME TO BE.
THIS ANNUAL EVENT ENDED A FEW YEARS AGO. However, DAN Baldwin SAYS HE ATTENDED IT AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT RETURN.
"Well, it was crowded and it was fun. Watching the different homemade canons work and professional ones that came in. It was all new to me, how they shot these things. I hope to see it back," says Baldwin.
ORGANIZERS OF THE EVENT SAY IT STOPPED HAPPENING IN Delaware DUE TO THE STATE HAVING NO LAWS LIMITING THE AMOUNT FOR WHICH AN INDIVIDUAL OR THE ORGANIZATION CAN BE SUED. COMMUNITY MEMBERS SAY INJURIES DID HAPPEN.
PEOPLE LIKE Christopher SHORT SAY Punkin CHUNKIN WOULD HELP THE COMMUNITY. However, HE HAS RESERVATIONS.
"I would think it would be good for the town to bring it back but I'm just not sure, as far as insurances, for this town if it would be a good thing," says Short.
ONE OF the Punkin CHUNKIN ORGANIZERS, FRANK Payton, TELLS WBOC THEY ARE IN NEED OF ABOUT 200 ACRES OF FLAT LAND. THEY WOULD PREFER TO HAVE IT IN Maryland OR Virginia.
THE ORGANIZERS SAY THAT IF YOU KNOW OF A PLACE THAT MIGHT BE A GOOD FIT FOR THE EVENT TO REACH OUT AND SEND THEM AN EMAIL at info@punkinchunkin.com.
ONCE THE EVENT CONCLUDED IN Delaware, its NEW HOME WAS IN Illinois. HOWEVER, ORGANIZERS SAY THEY ARE READY TO BRING IT BACK CLOSE TO WHERE IT ORIGINATED.
