SALISBURY, Md.- Authorities say a 30-year-old woman died Thursday night after she was struck by an SUV in Salisbury.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said it happened shortly before 9 p.m. on Route 13 near the intersection of West Ruark Drive.

Investigators determined that a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by a Princss Anne woman, struck the pedestrian who was crossing the highway on the southbound side of Route 13. It is unknown why the pedestrian entered the roadway while vehicles were passing. A witness who was traveling behind the Traverse told law enforcement that the pedestrian entered the road directly in front of oncoming traffic. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Sheriff's Office said that preliminarily, there is no suspicion of impairment of the driver, and speed does not appear to have contributed to the death of

the victim.

The victim was identified as Alexandra Elizabeth Wolff, 30, of Salisbury. Her body will be transferred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

The southbound lanes of Route 13 were closed for approximately three hours while investigators gathered information from the scene. The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office CRU will continue to assist with this investigation

and it is requested that anyone with any information about this crash, or witnesses contact DFC RobParker at 410-548-4892, ext 222, email at rparker@wicomicocounty.org.
